Spotlight on Max V

Max received his kidney from his mother on May 11th. The transplant process occurred during Max’s second year of university; he found it challenging balancing attending school while also preparing for his transplant. Max’s favourite thing about being an ambassador is being able to provide a sense of hope and perspective by sharing his experience to people in similar situations. Max was easily the youngest person in the room at any clinic, and it was frustrating for him not having someone similar in age to connect with. On one particularly dark day at dialysis, a young nurse approached him and shared that the year prior he had been in his exact seat, on dialysis, until his mother gave him a kidney - and he now lives a normal life. This small interaction meant so much to Max and gave him hope. Max joined TAP to be someone that young adults could open to, relate to and ultimately feel less alone in this whole experience. Max is so grateful to have offered support, advice, and comfort to people of all ages since 2022, and we are so grateful to have him on our team!
