We are happy to Spotlight kidney recipient Jennifer, TAP Ambassador & Lead at Ajmera Transplant Centre at UHN University Health Network/Toronto General Hospital.

Jennifer was diagnosed with chronic kidney failure in her early 20's, and soon found herself on hemodialysis before receiving a living donor transplant from a family friend. “I'm extremely grateful for my donor’s selfless decision to give me a second chance at life,” she shares.

Since her transplant, Jennifer has been living a full life as a Registered Nurse, and gives back even more as a TAP Ambassador. She enjoys helping patients by listening to their stories, validating their feelings, and sharing her experiences with them.

One particularly impactful moment for Jennifer as a TAP Ambassador, was speaking with a patient who had witnessed a loved one pass away from kidney failure, and was now struggling with kidney disease themselves. “I just wanted to be there to listen because what they were going through was very similar to my journey. There is reciprocity in our interactions as TAP Ambassadors, and we can both learn from each other.”
