I'm looking for a kidney donor. I've been on dialysis for almost 3 years. I'm 48 years old and thankful that dialysis keeps me alive, even though I know that it takes a toll on my body and my quality of life. Some days, I might have a little bit of energy, but most days not so much. I usually end up falling asleep after my husband picks me up from dialysis. Most days, I'm even too tired to eat. Food does not taste the same anymore due to the kidney disease. As a dialysis patient, I have to watch my fluid intake, which is difficult, especially during hot summer days.
Receiving a kidney would be the best outcome for me but the wait time for O type kidneys could be 8 years or more. A transplant would enable me to get back my life and have more time to spend with my family instead of being hooked up to the machine 3 times a week for 4 hours a day. I love the Montreal Canadiens, reading and watching movies. I had no idea I was in kidney failure until I started having problems with blood pressure and swelling. I went for a biopsy and it turned out stage 5 kidney failure. My husband and I enjoy fishing and spending time with our kids and grandkids.
I do realize that there is a lot of testing involved but you would be giving me or someone else, a second chance at life.
