PATIENTS SEEKING DONORS

Hi, I'm Tanya.
Thanks for taking a few minutes to get a glimpse into my life. I’m a wife and proud mom of two—my daughter is graduating this year and my son is in grade 9. We also share our home with our two lovable English labs, Dutch and Vader, and our sweet ginger cat, Wilma.

For the past 10 years, I’ve enjoyed working as an administrative assistant with the Peace Wapiti Public School Division. I’m grateful for this community I get to be part of daily.

Though I’ve been under the care of a nephrologist for the past three years, this disease has been part of my life for much longer. I watched my mom bravely battle the same illness—enduring 10 years of dialysis before receiving the incredible gift of a kidney transplant from a donor. Her experience taught me both the hardships and the hope that come on this journey.

Now, I find myself in the same place she once was, hoping for a different outcome. I’m reaching out in the hopes that someone might see this and be inspired to learn more about living donation. My wish is to avoid dialysis and continue being present, healthy, and active for my family—especially as my children enter such big milestones in their lives.

Simply put, maybe by sharing my story this inspires someone to learn more and possibly consider becoming a living donor.

Thank you for taking the time to listen. Your support and compassion truly mean the world
