Richard L
Hi,
I'm Richard and I have polycystic kidney disease. I was diagnosed in 2013 in the midst of taking care of my dear mother who was suffering with the same disease. My experience with this disease with my mother was not a good experience. I watched helplessly as this disease slowly progressed and eventually ended my mothers life in 2018.
This disease scares me as now I'm going through the same experience that my dear mother had to endure. I'm a single dog dad to a beautiful 13 year old female Maltese named Isabella who is a very important part of my little family. I have always wanted to have a large family and if and when I do receive a transplant, I want to be a father and adopt a child to complete my life purpose.
In regards to career I have been a first responder for the past 20 years and absolutely love my job. I am still very active in keeping a healthy mind and lifestyle for myself that includes: working out, bike riding and any other activity that takes me outside.
I am being worked up for a transplant at UHN. If you are interested in becoming a kidney donor, I'd love to hear from you.
