Hi. My name is Lynda. I am 57 years old, and I live in Toronto with my husband. I have been on dialysis since March 2020. I inherited Polycystic Kidney Disease from my mom, and I’ve been aware that I had it since I was very young. My mom, aunt and grandfather all died young of the disease.
Two years ago, my sister agreed to donate to me and we were found to be a “perfect match”. Unfortunately, very late in the testing process, it was discovered that she had a medical issue and couldn’t proceed. I’ve gone from feeling very hopeful to feeling somewhat defeated.
I am still working full-time and doing my best to stay positive. I have a strong family and friends support network around me, so I am very lucky in that way. I would love to be able to travel again, live a normal life and look forward to the future.
