I’ve always been a person who likes to help others, so asking for help is difficult for me, but I realize that telling my story is necessary. I am 50 years old, married to my soulmate, and do work that brings me great joy. I enjoy spending time with family and friends, gardening and doing yoga in my spare time (although yoga has been more difficult as my kidney function declines). I also have a great love for animals - especially a fluffy orange barn cat that chose us a few years back.
Essentially, I feel like I am in the prime of my life and I am grateful for all the experiences that I’ve had. However, dealing with kidney failure will require a lot of strength, perseverance and determination. I hope that the right person will hear my story and become my hero - allowing me to get back to enjoying time with the people I love!
I was diagnosed with PKD in my early 20s, but my function is now rapidly declining. I currently have a PD catheter inserted and will have to start PD dialysis very soon. My kidney function is 10% and it impacts daily life. I am still working full-time in the human resources field.
I have been approved for transplant and was fortunate to have 4 people attempt to be a living donor for me, but unfortunately, all have been declined for various health reasons, so my search continues. Please contact me if you are willing to explore living donation.
