PATIENTS SEEKING DONORS

Ines D

Ines D

My name is Inès and I’ve been in Ottawa since 2018. My journey has been filled with challenges, as well as a deep love for others and for life.

Before this illness changed my reality, I worked as a personal support worker in a senior residence. I loved taking care of others - it brought me so much joy. I am too sick to work full-time, but I still volunteer once a month. It’s essential for me to bring a smile and some comfort to those who need it.

I grew up with hypertension, a silent disease that slowly destroyed my kidneys. Every day, I feel the toll this illness has taken on my body and my life. Soon, I will need to start dialysis, a step I approach with trepidation. My only chance to regain a normal life is a kidney transplant.

I am married and a proud mother to a beautiful 9-year-old daughter. She is my reason to keep fighting, my light in the darkest times. Losing my mother when I was just 12 years old left a deep void in my life, and I don’t want my daughter to experience the same pain. I want to be there for her joys, her struggles, and her triumphs.

My husband cannot be a donor due to other medical conditions. I hold onto hope a miracle is possible. That’s why I’m reaching out to you today. If you’ve ever considered donating a kidney, follow your heart. Your incredible gift could transform my life and that of my family.

Even if you are not a B blood type, you could still donate through the national paired donor exchange program. Thank you.
