PATIENTS SEEKING DONORS

Fares

Fares

My name is Fares and I am a 26-yr-old from Ottawa. In June 2022 I was diagnosed with Anti-Glomerular Basement Membrane Disease, a rare autoimmune disease. This was a surprise given I had never previously experienced any health issues. Unfortunately, this autoimmune disease caused my kidneys to fail, requiring that I be on dialysis three times a week since June 2022.

At the time of my diagnosis, I was a second-year university student studying Political Science and working in the federal government with the goal of going to law school to become a lawyer. Previously, I studied journalism and worked as a journalist covering local sports. I’m an avid sports fan, lover of video-games and movies, and deeply passionate about cooking and recipe testing. I’m a huge lover of music and find solace in discovering and listening to up-and-coming rappers. I love animals and take every chance I can get to spend time with my cats.

Since my diagnosis, and due to the difficulties of dialysis, I have been unable to study or work. I am also unable to be as active as I want, such as playing soccer and spending time camping and travelling the world. Getting a kidney from a living donor would allow me to go back to school and work and live my life to the fullest.

I am now looking for a donor to give me the gift of life and to allow me to get back to my studies and passions. If you would consider being a kidney donor please reach out or call Ottawa Hospital Donor Coordinator 613 738 8400 X82778.
