PATIENTS SEEKING DONORS

Donna A

I came to Canada with my family from Jamaica over 42 years ago. I worked with the same oil company for 41 years before I was retired last year. I didn't know about PKD until after my father and sister passed away in 1986 and 1991 respectively, and we were told that they both had PKD. They both died of cancer. My older brother was also diagnosed with PKD and had a paired transplant, with his wife as a donor, in 2010.

My husband tested to be my donor but unfortunately, he was not a viable candidate as he was found to have cysts on his kidneys. My younger daughter seems to have also inherited the "wretched PKD gene". I am hoping to get a donor kidney so that I can continue to enjoy my family and friends, travel, and continue with my gardening and crafting.

If you are interested in becoming a living kidney donor please contact me directly or livingdonorkidney@uhn.ca and 416-340-4800 ext. 4848
