PATIENTS SEEKING DONORS

Debbie K

Debbie K

I am a liver transplant recipient since 2012, and my brother was my donor. I live out in the country with my mom who has dementia and I care for her along with the help of family and friends. I like to read and enjoy country music. I have 2 brothers, 2 sisters, 6 nieces and nephews, and 3 great nieces.

When I was healthy, I enjoyed traveling and visiting places like Holland twice, Italy, Australia, Hawaii, England, Florida. In Canada I have been to PEI, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, BC. I really miss being able to travel. I also love to cook and bake for family and friends, and going out with family and friends.

I worked at a family business since 1982 looking after the office and bookwork, but recently retired due to my declining health.

I have taken up knitting with my aunts help and hope I can recreate the slippers my mom used to make for my sister.

If I am lucky enough to get a kidney transplant I want to be able to travel more and spend more time with my family and friends, and do more things like outdoor flower gardening, barbecuing and cooking and baking for others. When I got my liver transplant I felt like a new person. I want to feel that way again, it was wonderful.
