Dariusz
I was diagnosed with kidney inflammation (IgA nephropathy) 35 years ago and managed it for many years before I began dialysis 3 years ago. I worked in the construction industry for most of my life, and was looking forward to an active and rewarding 'second chapter'.
Having a transplant would give me more energy and time to spend with my family, and to enjoy my retirement with my wife.
I would love to be able to spend more quality time with my grandkids (3 and 7) just doing simple things like playing with them at the park, helping them learn new things and babysitting my son's dogs and cats when he is away. I could also do more of the things that bring me joy like bicycling, gardening and watching soccer. This should be the best time of my life but dialysis makes everything in my life increasingly hard to do.
Unfortunately, it is a long wait on the donor list and my medical team tells me the best chance for me is to try to find a living donor. I have been told that potential donors go through thorough testing to make sure donation is a safe and rewarding experience. If donating and kidney is something you would consider learning more about, I would love to hear from you.
