PATIENTS SEEKING DONORS

Andrea SF

Andrea SF

Over the last seven years, I have developed sepsis (blood poisoning) thirteen times. I had a kidney removed last August 2023 and started dialysis.

Previous to being ill, I was a Wilton cake decorating instructor but have been too sick to return to work. I’m also a graduate of George Brown College Jewelry Repair Program. I am also a single mother of two grown children. One of my sons is autistic. He is functioning at a level far beneath his age. My disease has made it difficult to care for him but I am all he has. I’m not sure of his future if something happens to me.

I love dogs! Especially Boston Terriers. My dog has been with me since I started this kidney journey and she has been a huge emotional support. I am grateful to so many people. My friends and family have played a large role in my care. Unfortunately, none of the people who have come forward so far to get tested as potential donors were acceptable.

If I could get a transplant, it would completely change my life. I would have more freedom to travel, which would be amazing, as oldest child lives five hours away and I don't get to see him very often. I really want to be the person I was before dialysis. I was very social and loved to be around people. I am grateful to be alive, but dialysis can be very isolating and depressing. I try to keep positive everyday and continue to pray. My faith keeps me going.

If you are considering living kidney donation, I'd love to hear from you.
