I am 37, resilient, and determined to live. Though life has presented many health challenges, it also finds ways to remind me how blessed I am. I've been a Type 1 Diabetic for 32 years and as a younger person, I did not manage my diabetes well, which led to complications.
With every complication I realized if I didn't invest in me, I wouldn't make it. I worked hard, sacrificed and made decisions that brought my AIC down drastically. I am still working to lower it through diet changes, exercise. I am knowledgeable and motivated, I achieved an important health goal but still have kidney disease.
I am a caring, generous, loving person; personally, I think I am pretty funny. As a 'person with a disability', I am still ABLE. I am a wife, daughter, friend, relative. I work full time in Social Services assisting/advocating for job seekers & clients with disabilities find employment. Making a difference in any way matters to me. I love food, good company & my heated blanket (perimenopause). I enjoy true crime shows, good music and vacationing with my husband.
Although my husband and family have offered to be tested, they were unable to proceed due to age and medical issues. I am hoping a friend, family member or stranger will come forward to give me a second chance at life by becoming my kidney donor. It would mean the world to me!
