Hello my name is Lucy. I am a mother of 2 adult children, married and have 5 grandkids. I was diagnosed with FSGS (Focal Segmental Glomerulosclerosis) and Hypertension (high blood pressure) due to my advanced chronic kidney disease and kidney function that sits at 11% functioning.I now am at the end stage of complete kidney failure
I work at a retirement home. As of May 5th 2023 I was forced to go on sick leave due to all my symptoms that made me unable to fulfill my duties at a job that to me was and plays a big part of my life.
With the love and support from my siblings and all they do to help me through each day, I feel very blessed.
This disease has impacted many of my family mambers, starting from my grandparents down.I have lost loved ones including my mother,father and two sisters, 5 of my aunts, uncles and cousins. Both of my children received a transplant and are both doing well. My nephew is doing home dialysis and also waiting for a transplant.
My doctor has suggested a pre-emptive transplant (before dialysis) and in order to achieve that, I am hoping to find a living donor. With a transplant I would be able to get back to my normal life
