Tonya
Hi, I'm Tonya
I love being active — boating, fishing, exercising, and going for motorcycle rides. But lately, I get tired easily, have less energy for the things I love and rely more on others than i ever used to. I stick to a strict renal diet, which makes social gatherings even more difficult.
I have a beautiful family that includes: my wonderful husband, a 24-year-old son, 21-year-old daughter, three stepchildren, two beloved grandsons, ages 10 and 1, and two adored cats. As I have PKD, a genetic type of kidney disease, several people in my family also have PKD and cannot be donors. My husband is not a compatible blood type, so I am making my search public in the hopes I can find someone who will want to give a person like me a second chance at life.
I was a government employee for 34 years before retiring early because of my kidney function decline. I would love to be able to work with animals in some capacity but am currently unable to because of my health.
Receiving a kidney transplant would be life changing - it would allow me to complete simple tasks like walking up stairs without getting too fatigued and out of breath. I would be able to play and be more involved with my grandchildren. even go back to work. I would be able to be more independent.
If you are considering being a living kidney donor, please reach out to me directly or to kidneydonornurse@vch.ca at the Vancouver General Hospital.

Currently in active transplant status looking for a donor.
Reason for kidney failure: I have polycystic kidney disease which is a hereditary condition
