Sara M
Hello, my name is Sara. I’m a mother to a newly graduated nurse, part of a loving family, and someone who still has so much to live for. My background is in social services, where I developed a deep appreciation for just how precious life truly is. Like many others, I’m in need of a kidney transplant to continue living that life.
For the past few years, I’ve been on hemodialysis three days a week. It’s physically and emotionally exhausting, leaving little energy for anything else. I can no longer drive, travel, or attend many important life events. Each session is a full-day commitment, and the fatigue is overwhelming.
My sister was once a match, but during her final pre-op screening, a heart abnormality was found. She was ruled out just moments before surgery. It was heartbreaking, but we’re grateful for the care taken to protect both donors and recipients.
I don’t believe my life is more important than anyone else’s—we all want the chance to return to a full, active life. I’m passionate about gardening, my family, and now raising awareness for living donation. If you’re reading this, thank you. Your interest alone gives us hope—and hope is a powerful thing.
