Ines D
My name is Inès. I’m 39 years old, and I’ve been in Ottawa since 2018. My journey has been filled with challenges, but also with a deep love for others and for life.
Before this illness changed my reality, I worked as a personal support worker in a senior residence. I loved what I did because taking care of others brought me so much joy. Today, although my health no longer allows me to work full-time, I still volunteer once a month. It’s essential for me to bring a smile and some comfort to those who need it.
I grew up with hypertension, a silent disease that slowly destroyed my kidneys over the years. Every day, I feel the toll this illness has taken on my body and my life. Soon, I will need to start dialysis, a step I approach with trepidation. My only chance to regain a normal life is through a kidney transplant.
I am married and a proud mother to a beautiful 9-year-old daughter. She is my reason to keep fighting, my light in the darkest times. Losing my mother when I was just 12 years old left a deep void in my life, and I don’t want my daughter to experience the same pain. I want to be there for her joys, her struggles, and her triumphs.
My husband has been excluded as a donor due to other medical conditions. Despite everything, I hold onto hope that a miracle is possible. That’s why I’m reaching out to you today. If you’ve ever considered donating a kidney, I invite you to follow your heart. This incredible gift could transform my life and that of my family.
